Crowns
Over the lifetime of a tooth, it’s integrity is compromised from over exposure to acid, biting forces, and trauma. The density and strength of the tooth is reduced tremendously from daily wear and tear. A tooth with multiple decaying surfaces or large cavities, large existing fillings, existing root canals, or cracks will need a crown. A crown is an indirect restoration for a tooth that involves covering the tooth with a porcelain cap. The crack and/or the decay are removed and the tooth is carefully shaped to receive a crown. The crown is permanently cemented onto the tooth for adequate retention and stability. Hygiene around the crown should be managed the same as natural teeth. Keeping up with regular cleanings and exams will ensure you get the most longevity out of your crown. Please come visit our office to find out if this is the best treatment option for you.
